It’s Time to Vocabulize! Vocabulary 92 – 98

Building vocabulary is extremely important.

Building vocabulary is extremely important.

Yesterday, I shared a few benefits of maximizing vocabulary. T. J. Ragan, MA, CCC-SLP, an educational consultant, shared these thoughts in a recent article: “Vocabulary skills contribute to word reading, writing, listening and reading comprehension skills, so I make vocabulary a priority in my day-to-day work with students.”

As an adult literacy instructor and an ESL (English as a Second Language) college adjunct, I couldn’t agree with her more.  I see regularly how many students lack very basic skills for reasons too numerous to name.  That’s why I’m writing Vocabulize: How to Maximize Your Vocabulary at Any Age.

Today, I’m going to share just a few more benefits to maximizing vocabulary:

Increased confidence when communicating. When you maximize vocabulary, you increase your confidence when communicating. You’re almost always “in the know” and can actively participate in more conversations.  You are, therefore, better positioned to partake in social events.

Broader mindset. There’s nothing more rewarding than broaden your mind. By maximizing vocabulary, you are looked at as a leader, of sorts. Also, your analytical, critical, and influential skills heighten.. The more vocabulary you command, the more you crave. You’ll remove various limitations and be able to address matters head-on.

Now that you know of the benefits, it’s day 14 and it’s time to Vocabulize!  Now, let’s check out the words you’ve missed to date:
